The late Jean Cristophe Lafaille must have been one of the best ever. Soloing 8000 metre peaks and climbing 8c+, doesn't get much more diverse than that.
Currently, must be Ueli Steck by some distance. Alps, Himalaya, onsighting (pretty much) El Cap.
I think a great all rounder has to consistently perform brilliantly away from their home patch

In reply to wayno265: Dave Macloed. Although has he done any big walls? Or 8000 metre peaks? I think Honnold has the biggest balls though. God knows how he climbs with those things between his legs.
In reply to wayno265: What about Joe Brown (CBE)., whilst his routes may now seem "easy" in terms of grades,for the day they were cutting edge ,his vision,skill,boldness and pioneering spirit would surely qualify him.
