I am lucky to live not far from The Pinnacle in Northampton. I’m not the greatest of climbers but the Lads and Lasses provide a great service and more than willing to give a plank like me advice when I can’t even do an easy route. Yesterday I snapped a boot lace; even though Simon the boss was busy he sorted me out a replacement from an old pair of boots so that I could boulder. The Pinnacle is well worth stopping by and talking to other climbers who have travelled there from other towns (Berry St. Edmonds to name one place) they say it’s a good wall. Some may think I’m sad for singing the prises but in this case the wall and the Staff deserve it; go give it a try.

I don't climb there often enough, but the area has really improved for climbing in the last few years with both there and Big Rock over in MK opening

Tis the best friendliest climbing wall - they do really good hugs too.

In reply to Richard Smith: Yep hes a top bloke. He put a lot of thought in to that place, even down to the stereo system. Try the hot chocolate with the marshmellows in.

In reply to Richard Smith: by far the best wall in the area, so much better than big rock and bear rock

Yep done the hot chocolate but without the marshmellows (I'm Fat as it is without having marshmellows); it sure is good stuff.

I second your comments. Its an absolutely top notch wall, great facilities.

Boulder there regularly and the route setting is brilliant. Well graded, well set, great range of steepness on offer and the routes are changed obscenely regularly.

Easily up there with any of the london walls.

The biggest problem for The Pinnacle is Big Rock opening nearby. The routes are changed more often, it's bigger, the bouldering is far superior at the lower end and is generally a nicer place to be.

That said I grew up in Northampton and would have killed for something like it when it was Danes Camp or nothing. The routes are also graded better then MK, which can be quite humbling if you climb there often.

I have to agree with this, Pinnacle is easily one of the best walls around. They have put alot of thought into the walls there, and like you say the routes are changed ridiculously regularly, considering the expeense incurred to do so!! This particular set in the bouldering room this time round are amazing! Hats off to the Pinnacle!!
