Having a stay in Bradford at Easter and looking to get out climbing locally (do have a car)

The BMC RAD says that a kestral nests at Easby - does anyone know if it is there ?

Also looking for pleasant quiet and reasonably remote crags limestone / gritstone with enough routes around VS.

Don't realy want to mix it with groups at Brimham

Any suggestions ?

In reply to jugpuller:

Rhylstone might fit that bill.

Suggestions? Crookrise is pretty quiet these days - Rylstone, although it will be dry, will need a bit of a 'spring clean' to rid some of the routes of a winter's lichen (speaking from experience).

Attermire and Crummackdale, although having very good routes and being fairly rarely frequented these days (as well!) is best at HVS (and above) rather than VS.

Sorry, that should be Eastby.

Thanks for the suggestions, any update on the nesting kestral ?

In reply to PontiusPirate: I would also recommend Attermire for VS (also some worthwhile routes at S-HS and some fairly soft HVS's - very far left end). Crummackdale is great for softish HVS but not much at VS. The best "quiet" limestone venue for VS is probably Pot Scar.

On grit, Eastby is indeed good for quiet VS. Also, Deer Gallows is very quiet and has several worthwhile VS routes, which can easily be combined with a visit to Crookrise.

In reply to jugpuller: Simon's Seat, Earl, Eastby, Crookrise and Rylstone are all good options. Don't know about the kestrel though..

- There's no sign of the Kestrel nesting at Eastby at the moment.

However take a soft brush and a damp rag with you, some idiot has been painting all the holds with chalk to the point where it looks like "101 Dalmations"...
