Recently bought a cheap music player from argos, Alba 2gb ~£10.00. The thing accepted music easily, just a case of drag/drop, at first but now only plays audio files that are in MP3 format. So will ignore all other tracks.

Is there any reliable/safe software online that you can use to convert mp4 etc files to MP3 format? I've spotted a few but am hesitant to use something I've no knowledge of. TIA

ps went so cheap because it was for running through mud/through standing water.

Have a look at sourceforge. It is an open source software site:

The solution for converting most types of a/v files into other formats is ffmpeg: http://ffmpeg.org/

I know you're sorted now, but I thought I'd post this in case anyone does a search in the future.
