As an IML based in Spain I was wondering what people/possible clients consider when looking to hire a guide.
Are qualifications seen as essential?
Does the fact that the guide is insured make a difference?
Should they be a member of a governing body?
Any comments or thoughts appreciated.

I've never used a guide, but have used an instructor. I'd be looking for those three things in either, and then some.

All of these things would be essential unless I was going by personal reccomendation - otherwise there is nothing else for me to help me make a choice.

In reply to Cortijo Pino: Most punters will require some if not all of them if they've done their research. not sure what is required in spain legally but here in britain you'd need insurance as a minimum (NGB quals aren't generally required)
