You'll probably find folk have a mix of cyclocross, HT, full suspension, battered old steel frames and cheapo bikes from Tesco! You usually see an interesting mix when people park up at Inverness Leisure for events like this. Personally I'd stick with a mountain bike, you might be grateful for the suspension after a 60Km ride.
Wish I'd known about it earlier, I'd have been well up for doing that!
