Hello,

Would someone be able to recommend to me a good guidebook for Berry Head? Preferably with lots of pictures in it.

Thank you

Tim

Either Rockfax by Mark Glaister - lots of piccies, good for a first visit, or Nick White's S Devon & Dartmoor, definitive (out of print) - good for words and a unique take on the art of guidebook writing. Nick also produced a more recent supplement. All these should still be available.

In reply to Tim.W.Climber: If it's photo topos you're after, DWS, or up-to-date descriptions / access instructions; go for west country climbs (rockfax). You'll find quite a few more routes for berry head in the nick white guide but go easy as I suspect some of the less popular trad climbs (e.g. the quarry) are in various states of disrepair!

PS. Bird ban on most of it till end of the month

As others have said:

Rockfax - West Country Climbs - select routes with good photo topos
Nick White - South Devon and Dartmoor - definitive guide b&w topos, out of print
Rockfax - Deep Water - covers the DWS routes
Javu.co.uk - again covers DWS

Whatever you do make sure you check out the bird restrictions first which affect all the great cave routes and chunks of the DWS stuff.
