Loved the ReelRock8 films, they always put on such a great show.

One that particularly struck me featured Hazel Finnley, who was wearing a red top that looked to be part insulated [Primaloft ?] over her torso, and part regular stretch top [power stretch rather than fluffy fleece] a sort of hybrid ?

As a long time sufferer of Reynaulds I am always on the look out for ideas of how to keep warm. If this top is also windproof it could be fabulous.

And as an avid hater of shopping I have no idea who would make it or where to find it, brief surfing hasnt come up with anything.

Any help would be much appreciated.

It's something like the Arcteryx Atom LT Hoody

Or this

As you said, it's a primaloft (or other synthetic fill) in the torso with a windproof fleece in the arms. Rab are also doing a version, the Rab Strata.

In reply to sarahkeast: Hazel Findlay is sponsored by North Face if im not mistaken, looks like this jacket, unless there is a newer model being released this season (on closer inspection a few details are slightly different including colour but the type of top is the same)

this type of jacket is becoming more common, several major outdoor brands have started producing them, here are a few others to get you started.

berghaus ignite hybrid

marmot isotherm hoody

and variant hoody (jacket and vest options also available)

given the horizontal stitching and the hood, it looks like the TNF ZEPHYRUS Pro but without the pocket, maybe a sample one not production.

on the US website but not yet on the uk.

In reply to sarahkeast: thanks so much for replies. It is the Pemby by TNF. Sadly way out of my price range but a lovely looking bit of gear. Glad I love my old Buffalo mtn shirt so much.

In reply to sarahkeast: I don't get these hybrid tops. Wouldn't an insulated gilet over a base layer provide the same warmth with more flexibility at lower cost?

Don't know if this is any help to you but I think they had them in the outlet store in Cheshire Oaks (Ellesmere Port) when I was there a couple of weeks ago but I think they where still £100 and in black.

cheers

I don't think it is, it's down filled not primaloft and called the Verto. I've seen ads for them in US magazines I think. They don't seem to sell them outside of the US yet http://www.thenorthface.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?partNu... and it will probably be more expensive than primaloft one!

I'm reviewing the Jöttnar Alfar currently, and have reviewed the Marmot Variant in the past http://www.ukclimbing.com/gear/review.php?id=4447 There are strengths and weaknesses to hybrid jackets like this I think, and they do tend to be pretty pricey. Like some one said, arguably a body warmer and a micro fleece will work as well, possibly warmer, be more flexible (you've two things!) and could cost less. If you want a thin, very light down vest check out Uniqlo! http://www.uniqlo.com/uk/store/goods/078797 I've got the mens jacket and its great for the money. Much better down than in many similar looking high street brand "down" (feather often actually) jackets and vests. I also got a down vest that is super light from Decathlon - on sale in summer for €30 so a bit of a bargain! Again good quality down for something so cheap.
