I am visiting Cornwall in early July. As a newbie climber, any idea on companies which are good in the St.Ives/Penzance area? I would like to do some easy coastal routes (European geade 5a-6a).

http://www.wall-crawler.co.uk/ Stu is a personal friend and climbing partner - he does a lot of guiding in the West Penwith area, I don't know if he's free early July or not. There are several other guides in the area - I'm sure Stu will be able to point you in the right direction if he's not available.

Yes worth giving Pete a try, he's a great bloke.

If Pete isn't available or is still limping around, try Phil Matthews http://www.climbingcornwall.com/.

If you're in the area over the w/e 4/5/6 July, why not drop in on the BMC Cornish Climbing Festival? It's based at the Climber's Club's Count House, Bosigran on the coast road about 1/2 way between Land's End and St Ives. There'll be plenty of local climbers there including some who also guide or offer instruction.

No real advice from me other than: I've just spent my first weekend in Cornwall, and did Commando ridge at Bosigran.. what a great day out. Go for it
