Hello all,

Can anyone recommend any particular sites for finding out about forthcoming races, listed by area? I'm more interested in trail than road, if that makes a difference.

Thanks in advance.

In reply to Tall Clare: I predominantly use the Northern Running Guide (http://northernrunningguide.com/races/08/2014),

If you want more potential to focus on races in a small area try the Fetcheveryone race finder ( http://www.fetcheveryone.com/race.php ). The latter can be a little more inconsistent in which races appear in it, as it is dependent upon whether the users have created an entry, but has quite a few good filter options to find races you're after (very useful so it doesn't get swarmed by Parkruns).

https://www.sientries.co.uk/ is quiet good too.

I'm a big fan of this

Gets you kind of inspired to get out the country too!

Inspiring but some way beyond me just now - I'm about to do my first 10k and I thought it would be good to find another race to aim for in three months or so...

Going to France would be lovely but I think something in the north of England would be fine for now

Also Runners World Events page allows you to search by distance, month and terrain

There are millions and millions (I exaggerate only slightly) of 10K races all over the place. But do bear in mind that the races differ very much in atmosphere/level of competitiveness. The smaller (200-300 entrants) races are often filled with club runners and will be a much faster field than the larger (500+) events.

I have no idea how fast you run but if you are a slow beginner, the smaller races can be demoralising if you're not expecting it. As a slow runner, I'm learning to relish being at the back of the pack in smaller events - gives you plenty of space to run your own race. It's good for the soul.

UK Results is quite good for Northern races (especially more low key ones)
