Looking for a good quality bouldering mat for under £100. Still at highschool so budget doesn't really stretch. Been looking at the grivel mat: http://www.coldmountainkit.com/shop/product/grivel-crash-pad?gclid=CLqHtPq-...

And also at the alpkik phud : https://www.alpkit.com/products/phud

All thoughts appreciated.

Where are you based?

I've a DMM one you can have for £45, if you're anywhere near Leicester - was originally £110.

It's pretty big, and has one handle and a shoulder strap. Used, obviously, but not much, and has years of service left in it.

Not really, bit of a long train journey for someone who's still in highschool. But thanks for the offer.

I'm looking at the same problem, although I'm leaning towards breaking the £100 mark and getting the Alpkit Mujo (£130), as the carrying options on the Grivel will bump the price to around that anyway.

Hard decision from behind a screen though.

I have both the grivel and this climb X number.

Its a good thick pad. wears well too. I;m sure it was £80 in store too.

So you prefer the climb x pad? , both seem similar in the specs.

In reply to bigBadBadger:

It's a thicker pad and gives a better landing. That being said I did fall 6 feet and land on my face on the grivel and I was fine.

I like the grivel better on uneven ground.

So in the end I went for the grivel. Although being a tenna more it was much lighter and better designed with a brilliant strap and carrying system and small things like hooks to put your shoes and chalk bag on making it worth the extra 10 quid.

It's a good pad. The wee hook parts are good as are the G clips.

Although I've not used it myself, I am lead to believe this is a good pad for the money
