In reply to JSH:

- put 1 pad on your back
- make the shoulder strap of your pad 2 long enough so you can sling it over the top of pad 1
- put rucksack on your front
- stride with purpose
- lean slightly forward
- breath in
- and out

I used to use bungy cords but afraid of them snapping n hitting me in the face.i now use luggage straps for attaching stuff to roof racks. Got them from homebase for cheap

If you need that many pads, why not take a rope and a rack instead?

Another vote for cargo straps for roof racks, they do up tight so there's no problem of the second mat sliding down as you walk. You'll pick up a cheap pair off eBay.
The Moon bouldering bag lets you carry it like a courier bag with the strap over your shoulder and across your chest which is ok for big walk ins with two mats.

Just grow some balls?
Surely climber harder means appreciating that the risk increases?
