Sadly ripped a hole in the front of my beloved pythons the other week. Looking at replacing them, but found a good deal on some futuras.

Anyone have some experience with both shoes?

Loved the softness, heel and overall comfort of the pythons, and thought they performed amazingly on everything apart from small edges.

Are the futuras slightly stiffer/ less feel? This was my main like for the pythons.

I know you're asking on here because you're hoping to avoid trying them on but seriously, go try them on. They are pretty different shoes. The futuras aren't great on small edges either but are by far the best shoe I've ever smeared in.

The futura is by no means stiff. I don't think I'll be wearing mine again until limestone season is over!

I have only tried them on in a climbing shop in France recently but also played on their wall in them. For a new pair of shoes straight off the shelf, I thought they felt like a worn in pair and were reasonably comfortable, again for a new pair of shoes.

They felt less stiff than my Five Ten Blancos, but that is not surprising really and probably more like a just worn in pair of tight Five Ten Anasazis if that makes sense. On the climbing wall they were good on edges and smearing - if a 10 minute play is anything to go by.

I was going to buy a pair but still have 2 more brand new pairs of Five Ten Blancos waiting to be used and couldn't really justify the expense. However, once all my whites are worn out I will definitely buy a pair and give them a proper try.

Hope that helps.
