I didn't know you were on UKC, but can I just say - your videos are amongst the best out there. Thanks for taking the time to make them.

Sort have been out of making climbing videos. feel like I am throwing a saddle on a dead horse having covered most the basics and some of the advanced stuff. However I am going to tackle the avalanche education this winter by tracking a entire winter season and watch the snowpack morph as conditions change. Course throw in beacon use, search techniques, digging, etc... Get a little touring and ski mountaineering stuff on the side.

I keep getting a broken link Anna. I am in Canada but that shouldn't make a difference.
Edit: Ok I found your stuff, basically I would spend a bit on something to record audio with and then put in in the post phase, I found the levels to be inconsistant as hell. When giving instructional videos script what your going to say and make sure the message is clear. Your anchor top roping video made no sense to me.
1 tell them what you are going to teach and what it is
2 show them
3 repeat # 1
As I have told people in my videos if your learning how to climb off the internet well that is just plain Darwinism at it's finest. However it is one more resource.

A) Script
B)Audio
C)Get Final cut pro or at least imovie and edit Text goes a long way to make a point

Best instructional video for newbies.......... one showing how to do a Google search for Mike's stuff. Learned heaps from them, really looking forward to proposed series on avalanche awareness, snow pack development. Watch them all, when you have half this man's experience and knowledge you might have something to contribute.

Like he says you can't really learn to climb of the internet, but if you watch and rewatch his stuff (supplement it with a bit more research) you'll at least stand a chance of spotting when someone with half a dozen hours more experience than you is just bullshiting you.

Thanks for the advice, particularly on scripting it. Although I agree with you - learning how to climb from YouTube alone makes no sense at all! It is meant to be a just an aid, nothing more. Perhaps we need to make it clearer.
