Hi all!

Me and a friend are looking to head back to Snowdonia in December to go hiking/climbing. We've done some mountain hiking in the past, nothing too difficult, just Snowdon, Cadair Idris etc.. But haven't ever gone up any routes that required anything more than hiking boots and a map!

We would like to go in December and attempt something a little more interesting than walking up Cadair in the summer and would like to start climbing in the winter!

Our first idea is to head up Cadair Idris via the steeper climb from Llyn Cau (can't remember the name of the route of the top of my head) and then take the route around the Nantlle Ridge the next day as I've read that it has some relatively easy scrambling that is supposedly a good start for us!

A quick Internet search bombarded me with gear suggestions, so I was hoping people could give me a hand on what we'll need!

Recommendations for an ice axe, boots, crampons and anything else?

With boots, I imagine b2 would be best as I would like to try some harder climbs once I've got some experience!

Also, price is a big factor, as I'm definitely not rich haha!

Thanks in advance!
