Aside from being soothing, how did they do the CGI on this? Flawless.

The Mill did the effects on this one. http://www.themill.com/portfolio/2699/wide-open

"The Mill’s VFX team worked closely with Dom&Nic to achieve this effect by extensively and meticulously tracking the dancer’s movements in order to replace her limbs and eventually her whole torso, with a lattice of 3D mesh.

Photogrammetry scanning was used to create a fully CG model of the dancer’s body including photo real textures. CG clothing was also built in Marvellous Designer and then rendered in Arnold."

Are you a fan of Ex Machina?

Similar 3D scanning techniques were employed

I for one welcome our sexy new 3D VFX robotic overlords

Geeky point:
Excellent but not exactly flawless. At 2:44 there are some black areas that appear at the top of her arm and elbow and some of the straggly hairs falling around her ears don’t seem to be obeying the laws of physics as she moves.

You are sad.

Really really sad.

Ah. Just looked up Ex Machina (which I haven't seen) and understand the link. Might watch it although it's not my usual cup of tea.

Thanks for the info - interesting.

Whatever the tech, she dances beautifully.

LOL.
Yep, you’re right but I am also having a wonderful time, and doing a job I would pay them to do if they didn’t want to pay me (hey boss, I want a pay rise if I do this – How about 18% - OK).
I watched it with a critical eye - It's what I do! I was trying to figure out where the motion capture suit started and ended - until I gave up.

Previous? Well I spent about 3 months doing the first link and a week on the second (about 16 and 10 years ago – for fun) – so nowhere near the tech of today.

(Wow – it looks like photobucket has gone downhill since I last logged on)
