What does 'sideways nut' mean ? I can't quite picture it. On the crux I placed two reasonable hexes in the shallow wideish 'crack' - is this where the sideways nut is supposed to go or is it somewhere else. Thx

In reply to indigo: it's a shallow vertical slot/crease thing. The nut goes in with the 'top' of the wedge facing out. A wall nut fits best, something like a size 9 from memory but it's going back around 13 years!

Thanks but it looks like an entirely normal nut placement to me - just that the nut is placed with its two narrower sides in contact with the rock

Cheers but I don't quite twig which is the top of the wedge ?

What is this, one nut to the tune of another?

Really ? if its a nut the top will be opposite the bottom, i.e. the other end of the wire.

It's a lovely 'surely not' placement, enjoy

Yep, this is exactly what is normally meant by 'sideways'.
