Some breathtaking aerial footage of the cairngorms and assynt, among others.

But ewan mcgregor's voice over is dull beyond endurance, the same 'desperate struggle to survive' clichés that wildlife films narrated by actors just can't seem to avoid falling into.

Best watched with the mute button on.

Enjoyed it.

The seal pup's mother turning up to save the day was my moment of the day.

Poor little bugger.

Agreed, spoiled by the dire commentary. Neil Oliver of Coast fame would have been a far better choice.

I really don't know why they need 'stars' or 'personalities' to do voice overs , there are lots of people who can speak,( off a script) and many that can do so much more authoritively , with an actual knowledge of the subject.

Yes, perhaps.

Or Prof iain Stewart, the geologist. He did some really interesting series, but doesn't seem to get much tv work now. Maybe concentrating on his 'day' job; I always thought his genuine enthusiasm and knowledge made his programmes very watchable. He would have been able to bring insight into the significance of the landscapes alongside the usual cycle of the seasons/struggle for survival stuff.
