Hi. Does anyone know when the cable car (the funny looking coloured barrels) closes for the season. We are going next week and hope to do VF ivano dibona. Thanks.
You could park at Ospitale and go up the Vf Rene Da Pol one day, overnight in Rif Laurenzi, then go down VF Ivano Dibona the next day like we did (or do them the other way round).
I was there a few weeks back and was told that the cable car was being closed for some sort of renovation/repair (it's very, very old) so I'm sure it is closed now. That means that the refuge on the col at the top is also probably closed as they will be receiving very few visitors who are prepared to walk up.
As others have said it's definitely closed I'm afraid. As Toerag says the link up with Via Ferrata Renè de Pol is a good way of doing it. Failing that up Ivano Dibona and a scree run down to the Rio Gere lift and a hitch / Cortina Express and Dolomitibus return (though check the timetables as they run less frequently later in the season).
I think the Cortina D`Ampezzo Facebook indicated Rif.Lorenzi closed when the cablecar shut. https://www.guidedolomiti.com/en/ferrate-open-closed/
Anyone know why the top of VF Lipella on Tofana di Rozes is closed?
The walk up the scree slope isn't that bad, less than 2 hours with food and drink at the top, we did the Marino Bianchi starting from Cortina, bus to the first cable, back at the top of the first cable by 16.30 having checked out cliffhanger bridge. No rushing, two food stops at the hut.
The refuge was open in July (the cable was shut) we got totally wasted by a German family that did the Dibona upwards and the Bianchi.
The scree is really fast in descent being at a good angle and of good stuff.
