Hi

Im looking at a short trek up this little cracker but I am reading conflicting info regards how this must be done

I know you must be accompanied by a ranger with a rifle but i dont want a whole cavalcade of porters cooks cleaners and the like.

Its a 2-3 day jaunt there and back again and frankly if a man cant carry his kit for 3 days up a sub 5000m peak then he has little business being there in the first place......

Has anyone done this recently as it appears that you can do it without the cooks porters guides and retinue of manservants but there are lots of articles suggesting otherwise

I know Killi is beyone a joke with its requirement but I thought Meru looked a bit more open to the adventurer

Just turn Up at The park gate with your Stuff - you can hire an armed ranger there. Theres no need for a guide etc. I recomend you pencil in an extra day at The top hut - you're likely to end Up with AMS if you climb it in 2-3 days.
