Can anyone recommend any scrambling routes or general areas on the West face of Tryfan? Long grade 2 routes would be ideal.

Thanks in advance

North Buttress form the Heather Terrace goes at around a grade 2 scramble I think. I've never been on it myself though so not in a position to comment on quality.

west face? are the routes there not much shorter than those on the east side?

Notch arete. Variously described as 2+ scramble or mod rock climb ( i'd say easy 3) but one of my favourite scrambles anywhere. There's a way up to it from the bottom (it's in the new scrambles guide), but I've always dropped down Notch gully after doing something on the east face.

The Ogwen CC guide has a fair few g2 and g3 routes on the West Face. I've never done any (I suspect they don't get much traffic) but might be worth tracking down a copy of the book.

Edit - just checked and it has one g2 (V Cleft, "poor") and six g3 routes.
