Has anyone used the belay glasses as available from Climbing Frog? They seem OK from the description but are also a fair bit cheaper than other pairs.
Many thanks.

They look very similar to these:

https://www.lepirateglasses.com/index/english/belay-glasses/ and they are only $25. I have just ordered a pair and they took about 10days to arrive. Using them for the first time last night the optics seem good, though they are not quite a 90deg 'look-up', so you still need to be a few feet away from the wall.

Others have commented on them here https://www.ukclimbing.com/forums/t.php?t=645657 (the link in this thread is broken, mine should work).

I'd looked at those a while back. I noticed that there are two different types in the pictures. One pair look like the cheap "lazy reading" glasses reversed, while another look like proper belay glasses. I did mess around with reversing the cheap lazy glasses but you lose peripheral vision which I found unpleasant and ended buying a proper pair. If they are selling the ones such as the last picture on the page they would be ideal. who knows which pair you would get?

I suspect that the Climbing Frog ones are the same as the Le Pirate ones. I couldn't find Climbing Frog in stock anywhere, so I got the Le Pirate ones and they do the job. One thing I would say is that they are probably more useful outdoors on longer routes. On an indoor wall, you don't see the whole climber through the glasses until they are near the top of the wall. At least when your partner is 6'3" like mine is.

I have the black le pirate glasses and they are good. The cost me less than £20 a year ago. I disagree about using their redundancy indoors as they are perfectly good from the third clip upwards for me. Mind, my local wall is pretty tall.

I've seen that there are better options than the Climbing Frog pair (review link below), although they do seem a decent pair for the price.

As others have said, they do look similar to the Le Pirate ones which do the job. Although I suspect they are modified 'lazy reading glasses' and could be better designed for belaying.
