As the washing machine thread had a good variety of posts... I want to consult the UKC Hive mind, do home steam cleaners work, hand held or upright or pseudo industrial, specifically

a) do they destroy grease in kitchens (as shown in the adverts? or to a reasonable level where you still have to scrub)
b) do they clean grout between tiles (floor, bathroom walls)

brand recommendations welcomed
Cheers in advance

I bought my mum one to clean her kitchen, I think it was the Kartcher one, and the answers are:

a) no
b) no

limescale... no
mould... no

Useless waste of money. Now the Kartcher vacuum window cleaner thing I bought her, that works really well!

For grease use http://www.dri-pak.co.uk/cleaning-products/soda-crystals/

For grout use bleach spray.

We moved house 2 years ago and decided to have wood/tiled floors throughout the house rather than carpets. We bought this steam cleaner. https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Steam-Mops/Shark-Lift-Away-Steam-Pocket-S3901UK/...

It has been great for cleaning the floors, it also has a "dust" setting for wooden floors. The karcher window cleaner which we also have is very good.

This steam cleaner is more heavy duty.

It comes with a good set of tools one of which is a little nozzle/brush which is good for grouting.
