Hi all, so overtrousers - 3/4 length or full zip? Can you get mountaineering boots through 3/4 length zip trousers?

Cheers,

Full zips can be put on with crampons, handy if the approach is steep and things get wet.

My La Sportiva boots would struggle with my hill walking 3/4 zips. Lowe Alpine trousers. I can barely get my 3 season boots through them.

Full zips also give a ventilation option that 3/4 don't.

If your intention is to use them with boots and crampons then full length zips if definitely the way to go. Its way too much faff to have to take your crampons off and put them back on again.
If its only boots you'll be wearing it would depend on the trousers I suppose but with full length zips you know it will be ok.

As above - full zips. Not really much weight saving in 3/4 so why not?

I prefer the ventilation with 3/4 length and can get them on over crampons if very careful, but full zips are definitely easier.

Full zip for me.

Tend to use full zips, BUT often get wet thighs in very wet conditions due to zip leakage. Maybe the best thing is full zips for full winter conditions ,and 3/4 for 'summer' down pours?
