Looking for a good place to take out an 8 year old. She's climbed indoors on top ropes and done a little bouldering. Looking to try some easy outdoor boulders for time and convenience. She's just got new shoes this week, so keen to try them out on rock.
I've found most places quite good for kids, but ignore the graded problems and find your own problems on smaller boulders to start with. Roaches are good for this as there is so much about. Also Ramshaw can be fun. Cratcliffe and Robin hoods stride are great fun. In the East, burbage South can be good but the rounded nature can cause problems. Higgar tor is fun too.
Burbage South has always been a favourite with my 2 girls. It just feels really flat and friendly, the back of the dog boulder is a great place to start off for them.
Yeah thats good, also covered in the link above .. some of those are a bit harder but some kids are very good climbers. The unlisted stuff is coloured magenta on our pages and there is loads.
The slab side of the whale is also popular but a short rope (or climbing up behind) might be handy as its quite big.
