I'm looking for some inspiration for a sports trip in the October half term for me to climb and my family (5 year old lad) to swim, pool or beach and enjoy some sun, any ideas welcome....

Mallorca might work. The climbing and beaches are both good (and, in one case, in the same place).

Costa Blanca is usually nice and warm at that time of year, good for swimming and climbing. Bouldering on the beach near Denia can be combined with a swim. Denia / Javea / Calpe areas all good places for beach / rock access.
