I tried out bouldering for the first time 2 days ago and I really enjoyed it, planning on doing it regularly.
I've heard about forearms hurting after climbing and mine do a bit - they were quite bad just after I came home from climbing - but the past 2 days I've had pretty intense pain in my upper arms and shoulder blades, similar to the pain you get when you've just started lifting weights.
Is this normal for a person starting climbing from doing basically no exercise regularly or is it likely my posture is all wrong?
I second that, general muscle pain is to be expected, same as any other exercise really; but intense pain sounds like you've maybe overdone it and/or been hanging on your skeleton a bit too much.
Muscle soreness is pretty normal, even for those who have been climbing for years sometimes. It should go away after about 5 days at the most. Climbing on a regular basis should minimize it pretty quickly though.
