Here's my idea for democracy. Voting for policies not politicians.

Instead of ticking a box, voters fill in a questionnaire relating to the various parties policies; do you agree with fox hunting, trident, bedroom tax etc. At the end, your vote is decided by which parties policies you mostly prefer. Instead of tribally voting for the same party, your vote is for what you believe in. The party with the most votes (most popular policies) wins. At the end the most popular policies from all the parties are brought together into one mandate which the party with the most votes implements. Obviously some work would be needed around costings.

My guess would be that the two most popular policies would be along the lines of
1. Cut taxes
2. Provide better services

Good luck with that.

Not too sure you're the first to have this idea. It's called direct democracy and its been around for at least 2500 years.
