Hello! I am about to finish building a climbing wall at home and need to get some mats sorted. Any and all suggestions welcome. Many thanks.

An old mattress is always a good start. Failing that, am sure you could pick up a second hand gym crash mat on eBay.

I went for cheap mattresses bought from a local charity shop. Totally fine.

mattresses are a bit 1983 cellar, but can be ok if you stack them up.
Ebay for second hand gym crash mats, i picked up 12 inch thick, 4 foot by 12 foot for my first wall. Around 50 quid each and well worth it if you seriously plan on using it.

That's a good size.
My two worst injuries happened at walls, one where my foot went down between two mats and I badly sprained my ankle. Gaps in matting are bad news.

School gym mats are not as expensive as you might think, especially standard sizes.

All good suggestions above.

It's also a good place to keep any bouldering pads you have!
