I'm wondering whether I'll get much benefit from fitting a deeper rimmed front wheel (Vision team comp 35) instead of the lighter 22mm I'm using now (Kinlin xr200). I tend to ride solo on long hilly open roads, the lighter wheel climbs and accelerates well but doesn't maintain momentum as well as my heavier 30mm (1.1kg!) training wheel. So is this down to the weight or the depth?
Thanks

In reply to The Potato:

They reckon aero generally trumps weight.

In reply to The Potato:

Depends how fast you ride. Faster you go the more aerodynamics make a difference. Above about 20mph it's perhaps more important on most roads than weight but hub quality plays a big part too.

In reply to Mr Fuller:

agreed on the hubs, i much prefer good quality cartridge bearings even though Im quite adept at maintaining cup/cone.
also agreed on speed, im not particularly quick but enough to notice a difference.
