Just heard about this place from a friend - it appears to be similar to Yosemite, but without the crowds. 1km high sweeping walls of clean granite, giant bald domes, etc: http://www.cochamo.com/climbing/

Wondering if anyone has ever been?

No but friends of mine have and it's apparently amazing though potentially very wet. Probably possible to combine with Paine (Navimag?) and/or El Chalten if you were out there for a month or so. Some stuff in previous Alpinists, also here:

Yes - outstanding place with I'm guessing pretty good weather for that part of the world. Can also combine with Frey in Argentina (like we did) via a day-long bus ride. Blurb from our trip 2 yrs ago: http://chossclimbers.com/testing/chile/
