Looking for tactical type paramedic ruck sack which opens up like a clam shell for work; we don't carry masses of medic gear for every eventuality, but auto defib and some simple BLS + Trauma kit, so day sack sized and as untactical looking as possible, i.e. not in multicam with molle straps all over it or with a huge white cross. I'm sure some gear whores on here can point me in the right direction, all I can come up with are single compartment or aforementioned highly visible stuff that screams attention.

How about a camera bag/sack?

I have something like this

Is this what you are after or smaller.

5.11 EMS bag is OK. Comes in blue as well.

This one http://www.511tactical.com/responder-84-als-backpack.html although they used to make smaller ones as well. You might be able to find one on eBay.

Camera insert and a suitable clamshell rucksack might do the trick.

Dmm flight or Blue Ice octopussy if a big compartment plus a few pockets is enough. And if more are needed, add a camera insert/block.

Arc'teryx Khard 30 is a fairly discrete option. Offers side and clamshell opening and is Velcro panelled on the inside so you can affix various pouches to organise your trauma kit.
Wolf grey is a good "less than tactical" option.

Also consider the more specific kits from March Applied Systems (sold by JayJays at Brecon

Not the cheapest, but very well designed (by a current combat medic) to be accessible and efficient in use.

Some interesting stuff there, I'm horrific bag fiend.

Needs to be day bag sized or smaller, 12-20 litres and not recognisable as a work / medical kit bag - international VIP shenanigans, but with clam shell opening, as this operates best whenever needed to do the emergency thing.

DMM Flight is an option, if I can paint out the DMM logo with felt pen or similar.

Lowepro 350 - 450 aw seems possible, still a bit too rucksacky. Peak Design Everyday overpriced Hipster back pack also possible but not clamshell.

Hmmn, wonder how big the market is for actual Gucci EMT bags?

Talk to aiguille alpine - there dedicated Meducal bags will be too gaudy, but they may be able to do a custom version of one of their smaller daysacks?

What about the new Arc'teryx blade 20 It will have some 'work' look to it, but is small and discreet, has clam-shell and side opening plus some gear organising features.

Looks good. You can carry it like regular luggage also, which is handy for vehicles, social situations, restaurants when I'm trying to not look like entourage.

I was about to say the same. Possibly too big but decidedly non-tacticool and fairly rugged. There are other much larger bags but drift too close to parabag territory.

In terms of build quality I've used 5.11 and more recently First Tactix bags without complaint.

Something like the Covrt 18 might be OK?

There's the Havoc 30 too - openings look a bit fiddly though:

Maxpedition do some non-MOLLE stuff but their kit seems to be style over function and build.

If money is not too much of an problem then Jayjays will make or modify existing kit to your requirements. I am sure they would be able to come up with something for the OP. The kit is generally awesome...
