I had a growth in my lung (turned out to be fungal not cancer) and my consultant loves hearing about my running/cycling/swimming.

I think it's great for them to get some positive feedback

I hope I'm doing things like the Tour de Mont Blanc or the Haute Route when I'm your age, never mind after cancer and chemo.

Friend of mine had major heart surgery and one of her best facebook posts was along the lines of "one of my greatest pleasures in life is turning up to see my cardiologist on a high-powered motorcycle".

Indeed, I've often said as much myself. I think their philosophy is that a positive attitude on the part of the patient makes their job easier. I know that when I was diagnosed with lymphoma about the first thing I said was "well let's just get on with any treatment that's needed; I still want to be going up mountains at 80"!
