Whilst doing some research and reading about the Battle of Loos September 1915 I came across this delightful recruiting poster for the Army Cyclists Corps

It is believed that by the end of the War some 20,000 men were serving in the Army Cyclists Battalions. Cyclist had the advantage over cavalry for reconnaissance and behind the lines communications in that their mounts didn't require feeding or watering, and they could cover greater distances in less time than infantrymen, but like mounted infantry they could serve dismounted when in action.
