Watching the Tour of Lombardy on Eurosport and Laurens de Plus took a header right over the crash barrier on a fast descent. Apparently there was a 10 metre drop on the other side of the barrier I hope he's going to be OK but it looked awful.
I have just realised the race took place last weekend. 3 riders all came off at the same spot and De Plus got off lightest. Bakelants had 7 broken ribs and 2 fractured vertebrae.
Pitelli was even worse with broken collar bone, shoulder blade and various vertebrae as well as facial wounds near the eye. Lucky to be alive both of them.
