Not too heavy or bulky, viewfinder (screens can be hard to use in bright light), simple exposure compensation for bright snow, usable with gloves.
How about the Canon PowerShot G5 X?
I've been using a Canon IXUS for several years - seems to work & on the model I have the screen can be disabled which increases battery life which is useful for multiday trips (it has an old style 'viewfinder as well as the screen).
But many of my friends just seem to use their phones & get reasonable results
