Well, I didn’t have much chance there; I’ve never seen the previous Llanberis North guide. Does the Milburn guide really have The Skull on the cover? I’d have said Quasar if I’d had to guess. I was hoping the answer was Darker Angel which is the front of MidWales and the frontispiece of Meirionnydd – (the climber’s on a different route in the latter, to be fair).

As for Lee Bowyer!! I thought he’d retired. And while I think I have at some point noticed that the first ascentionist of HF was one L Bowyer, how I could have known it was also Lee I don’t know.

And Ximeneans, btw, would say that your ‘visit’ was unfairly misleading.

In reply to Peter Walker: I didn't look at the above post with the answers (honest); and I must admit I thought that Mark Leach won; whatever, if memory serves it was in High's review of the 1980s, whenever that was published (probably Jan 1990).

In reply to Tyler: No wonder I couldn't do the route in NW. My Milburn guide is 1981, not 1978 (an edition every three years, eh? Those were the days.) and it does indeed have Quasar on the (back cover). And Lord on the front.
