Lochaber summit conditions

Hi, a couple of us are in Fort William this weekend with no crampons/axes and limited winter experience. 

We've been eyeing-up CMD Arete or Ring of Steall. Can anyone advise on snow/ice conditons higher up, and whether we would be ok going up with hill walking kit?

Mwis says no... still extensive hard snow cover above 700m

Yes we’re off camping in the Cairngorms next week- axe and crampons coming too by the looks of it, and plenty of coal for the bothy fire- more weight to lug in...!
