I'm looking for a bit of 9mm dynamic rope with a sewn loop in one end, to make a Petal Connect type cows tail. Simond do something almost right, but it's not long enough and i don't need the loop at the other end. Anyone got any ideas?

DMM do sewn lanyards - put this in a guide plate and voila! A makeshift Petzl Connect.  There are a few high ropes courses doing this sort of thing at the moment.  If the lanyard doesn't work for you then use a short length of 9mm rope and instead of a sewn end use a fig.8 on a bight.  Personally, a Petzl Connect might just be a cheaper and easier option.

I think I'd just make one from a piece of rope.

The 'Kong Slyde' might be of use to you. Could be a cheap solution.

That's my intention.

The obvious backup plan.

Ta, I'll ask DMM.

Why back up plan. I can't really see any advantage.

Just got the Kong Slyde - really recommend it!  It can slip if you use thin rope, I found 3m x 9.4mm dynamic works best
