Not wanting to discredit a very impressive achievement, but the video showed an almost complete absence of linked ski turns. Is there a distinction between 'descending on skis' and 'skiing'?

There is indeed. For a good example, like that of Kilian, of descending on skis here's Pierre Tardivel - one of the best steep skiers of the early 2000s
