Good evening all.

Just moved down this way from t'north. Looking for a nice spot for a day of sport climbing (6a-7b) with the some fresh water swimming near by.

I know of loads of these spots in the Lake District and North Wales, but my South Wales knowledge is lacking. Any top tips?

Thanks!

I wouldn't swim in any rivers, lakes, ponds etc in the valleys without local knowledge. No end of scrap metal and other junk in some of them. Disaster waiting to happen.

Dinas Rock might be an option.

Last year I had a great day at Gilwern and then took a dip in Keeper's Pond, which you pass on the drive in. Gilwern's a great little sport crag, particularly the Gilwern East section and the pond is incredibly easy to access for a swim being right next to a car park and with plenty of spots where you can walk into the water.

Wye Valley? I haven't tried the sport there, but the river is lovely to swim in towards Symonds Yat

Does it have to be fresh water? If you're climbing 6a-7b then Witches Point would be good, with a sea swim afterwards.
