If you want one set of waterproofs to cover everything from summer walking to winter mountaineering, the Pac Plus XT should be high on the shortlist. Light and packable enough to carry just in case, yet tough enough for climbing and scrambling; well cut for movement; and with a sensible set of features, the jacket is a very capable all-rounder, says Dan Bailey, while the trousers complete a great set.
