My missus has finally worn out her beloved Red Chili Spirits (light blue), what's the current alternative? She doesn't want anything with a high aggressive heel band.

The obvious answer would surely be another pair of Red Chili Spirit

Assuming you mean the old blue/white Spirits (my favourite comfy trad shoe - currently nursing pairs 2 & 3 through as many resoles as possible); the most similar current alternative I've found is the lace up version of the Evolv Defy, which for me climbs really nicely for a similarly comfy shoe, echoing the slightly wider fit of the Spirit

I have an old, unused pair knocking about. (Long story!) I'll see what size they are when I can.
