Sad news. Chris Lewis of Patterdale MRT has died.

Mr Lewis sustained severe injuries when he fell during a rescue at Red Screes on February 6, 2021. He never walked again after the accident.

Yes, sad news indeed especially so as his fall happened when the team were trying to help two who had broken the lockdown rules and the one who suffered chest pains(which resulted in the call out) had a pre-existing medical condition but decided to walk up a hill and camp in February.

The MRT haven't gone down the route of judging those who needed rescuing so I don't think we should either.

It was a tragic accident that could have happened on almost any rescue.

It is incredibly sad news, my thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues. Even after his accident he carried on being involved in his team, which must have taken an incredible resolve.
