Anyone got any info / tips / recs etc. on sport climbing in these southern regions of German? Eyeing it up for a possible last-minute trip this bank holiday weekend.

Looks very nice, but haven't been able to find guidebooks in my local climbing shops - hoping we could grab one out there?

We are pretty basic climbers after a chill weekend, not looking for anything harder than a 6a. Some easy multipitch would be even better 👌

cheers!

There's a good local guidebook for Allgäu, although monolingual (unlike the same authors' excellent German-English Frankenjura books). https://www.gebro-verlag.de/gebro/allgaeu.htm

I've done a bit there, found the conglomerate interesting & fun - although the best of it is at grades quite a bit harder than 6a. Didn't think the limestone crags I went to were much cop though.

might be a bit cold / snowy depending where the climbs are!

We visited Allgäu and Blautal in the first Autumn of covid - largely accidentally as various border restrictions meant that the usual hot spots were off the menu. We really enjoyed it (a covid silver lining) and had a good week or so visiting a bunch of limestone and conglomerate crags there and across the nearby border into Austria. Check out this blog post and have a browse of the next few for pics and beta including guidebook info.
