I have climbing shoes, but noticed there's black mould in them. I tried spraying them with vinegar but it didn't do much. Is there a way to completely remove the black mould? I don't want to risk getting fungal infection on my toe so considering throwing them out =(

Bleach, bathroom mould spray (same stuff).

If you are considering throwing them out then it's last chance saloon anyway so any damage will be acceptable.

Did you use normal grocer's vinegar (e.g. malt/cider/wine), which isn't much help, or white vinegar from a hardware store, which has higher acidity?

Its easy to kill the mould, but unless you then bleach it, it may still look black.

I'd use bleach, diluted 1:3 and wash it off as soon as it fades.

Black mould and the type of fungal infection are completely different types of organisms. In fact black mould in rarely found in natural habitats (like toes), so I wouldn’t worry!

Just give your shoes a clean with commercial black mould remover, wipe clean with water then throughly dry them. They’ll be fine.
