As mentioned on the news page Chris redpointed Mushashi. Just got an email from his climbing partner out there Sandy Ogilvie and thought it worth passing on. I think you can tell which part of Chris's personality climbing the hardest routes in the world and having a laugh come out on top!

"Chris sent Musashi first red point. He also sent them wild at the Canmore Ice Festival Open Freestyle comp, for freestyle read extra points for the most ridiculous antics during ascent. Following Bubu, who removed his trousers during his ascent, Chris hanging by the tip of one tool 15 meters up the 45 degree wall removed three layers of upper clothing, to his buff, (air temperture -8). As the crowed screamed for more Chris ascended a further 3 meters and then flicking his knee across the handle of one tool he proceded to remove his crampons and boots. A bit hasty members of the crowed were heard to scream as he still had two hanging ice buckets to climb. However the Cubitt was fired up and with steam rising from the ice off the soles of his feet he topped out. Sadly no place on the winners podium as Chris was discqualified low down on the route for not taking things seriusly. The judges Sue Knot and Barry Blanchard should have been at Musashi two days later to witness Chris's commitment."

Chris loves to entertain the audiences, a real star, good on him!

Bit pathetic disqualifying him for "not taking things seriously".

Interesting says this on gravsports.com;

Chris Cubbit (England) sent Musashi third (spurs) try with Simon almost falling on him from Rocky. More impressive was his bare-footed competition climbing in Canmore--heel-hooking the ice barrels with bare feat after falling off and removing his shoes...

The stuff at http://www.gravsports.com/Ice%20Pages%20Folder/03_04%20Ice%20Conditions/cin... is interesting (in a sort of 'I don't understand this game at all' sort of way) particularly the stuff about heel spurs.
