Seeking advice on this issue please.

I have a self inflating mattresses from Berghaus.  The non return valve diaphragm has gone missing.  Berghaus referred me to Blacks for repairs.  Blacks say that they cannot get spares for the mattress.

dies anyone know of a diy fix for this that is reliable?  Thanks.  Mike.

In reply to Miken99: Hi. I have the same issue. Did you get anywhere with finding a solution?

Interesting - I've just bought one of those. Will keep an eye on it when we use it next week.

Send them a link to this thread because there are thousands of potential customers here watching with interest to see if Berghaus care about their customers.

Now where was I? Should I spend my money with Berghaus or that other company???

If it's anything like the tents (I suspect it is) then you'll be caught in the triangle of hell between Blacks, Berghaus and Go outdoors. BH has effectively sold their name for certain products like the above to the Go outdoors/Blacks group who are effing useless. I broke a pole for a BH tent a year or so ago. After going round the houses with them a few times I just bought a tent from a reputable company. BH stated they sold the rights for the tents and that it was nothing to do with them. GO/Black's are just generally useless to deal with. They don't do spares or repairs unless it's a defect which requires proof of purchase and will then replace. I didn't have this apart from a bank statement. I can give the full story if you have a short eternity to fill.

Don't. Buy from Alpkit or similar

The only dealing I've had with Berghaus customer service I was very impressed. But that was now a while ago and maybe this is the distinction between Berghaus branded products that are not Berghaus and Berghaus products that are actually Berghaus.

For such a name and reputation built up over the years, then squander it piecemeal like that, these brand companies (like Pentland who own Berghaus, JD Sports etc) are vampires. At one point Berghaus were the company for so much kit (Gaiters, Bergens just for example)

There are still some products where I would chose Berghaus, but as an overall company they haven't been the "real Berghaus" for some years

In reply to Miken99: As NaCl  has said Berghaus don't actually manufacture or sell any tents or mats

They are manufactured somewhere in the Far East using the Berghaus name under licence by JD Sports for their Blacks/Millets/Go Outdoors/Tiso/George Fishers shops who are just useless if anything goes wrong with a product. (Although Tiso + Fishers are better and only sell the bigger 'Berghaus' family tents and will try to help you if possible with any  returns)

Cant help you with a fix for that mat but perhaps next time consider Thermarest with a fantastic customer service dept or Alpkit who can usually source spares and are at least helpful
