Morning all. Just scanning yesterday's posts and couldn't find any reference to Storm Darragh. Now, it was pretty wet and wild here in North Wales - worst for quite a while. We were without power all day and major roads were closed with fallen trees, floods and landslides.  How was it for you?😉

In reply to Myfyr Tomos:

Nowt really happened down here int' south. A bit blowy overnight.

Can see why they've all gone soft.

Quite a few trees and at least one power line down locally in Fermanagh, which closed roads. At least as far as I know there hasn't been as much flooding as there was from the last storm (Bert, was it?). We live on a hillside and it's pretty exposed all year round so I was relieved we got off lightly. It did feel like trying to sleep next to a jet engine on Friday night though, the wind was so loud.

Understandably, from what I saw online, it seems like coastal counties close to us in Ireland got the brunt of it, Sligo and Donegal.

Northern Powergrid deserve some credit - their powercuts website didn’t crap out under load unlike with storm Arwen.

The power network on the other hand….

Terribly wet and windy here in County Durham, lots of small bits of tree debris in the roads, surface water madness and crazy crosswind conditions on the roads but nothing apocalyptic.

Very noisy and bumpy in Penarth, a few trees down, a garage roof lost, free-ranging recycling boxes and bags all over. Cardiff Bay was looking hugely swollen when I drove over the bridge. Lots of debris on the roads.

I didn't go down to the front!!

Power cuts further west in the Vale, Bridgend etc.

Wet and windy here in the Chilterns, but no real drama.

I heard they cancelled your farmers market. How are you coping? Should I send artisanal bread and homemade chutney?

Bit blowy here in south Manchester yesterday, but thats all. A bit of rain. Went out and bought a Christmas tree.

By contrast, I was in the city centre late Thursday afternoon and the rain was coming down in waves. Really pretty unpleasant. Bright lights, wet roads and pavements, scurrying people, tall buildings - I described it to a friend as looking like Blade Runner with Christmas trees.

Hope everyone has got through it without too much discomfort.

Afternoon Myfyr. Just brisk here in Stroud. Sounds pretty bad in the Rhinogydd from hearing from neighbours. Rare to get hit full on from the north. Waiting on damage report. Glad you weathered it ok. D

Spoke to Alwyn (Cefnclawdd) last night at the Grapes, he said it was wild to begin with, but became reasonably sheltered by Moel 'Sgwarnogod as it veered NW. There's a strong, cold northerly here now.

Lynn said the Llanberis pass was a shallow river in both directions on Friday night, on her way back from the Denise Evans Autobiography launch at PyB. When the wind shifted to the NW one of our fences gave out, a plastic box seat took flight and broke and we got tired of bin chasing and bike locked them to a fence (first world problems). I hope anyone seriously impacted is OK.

A big thanks to any power network techs working to re boot the power! We were lucky once it veered past westerly as we're sheltered, so less windy than normal SW storms, just a couple of streams out over the road to town and the golf course looking like a lake. Machynlleth to Aber road had maybe 8 big trees down, south of Aber sounds worse and the Mach-Dolgellau road via Corris has apparently had a landslide......

After laughing when the Dacia sales guy mentioned the "battery to load" adapter that came with the electric car we picked up on Thursday, it came in to its own Saturday morning with the power down and advising that it wouldn't be back on till night time. Extension reel out the window, no probs boiling the kettle, running a small induction hob and pondering plugging the freezer in when the power came back on mid afternoon. For the "cheapest electric car in the UK..." so far it's ticking all the boxes for a country run around, fast enough to 55mph, OK range, small but loads of space, decent ride height, rubber mats and wipe clean plastics and upholstery.

Bit blowy and wet in the east but nothing to write home about.

Worcestershire; very windy for many hours. A lot of trees down locally blocking lots of roads to the point we didn't bother driving anywhere except the supermarket. No major damage in the area as far as I know. A few thousand households with no power, ours just flickered. Flooding is on the way now. A storm to remember though, just for the sheer length of it.
