Any other committed sock-wearers out there have any recommendations for thin, minimal seam, stretchy socks to squeeze into climbing shoes?

I would only countenance barefoot for the tightest of shoes on the most serious of attempts. My current weapon of choice are the tasty bamboo numbers from Seasalt, but my local outlet has gone and I wonder if there is any other high performance footwear on the high street. Would also consider the internet.

There's an early artificial fibre called rayon, it's like polyester but shinier, originally  as artificial silk. (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rayon). Rayon/viscose is similar to cellulose and made from processing cellulose (e.g. wood pulp)

Recently there's been a revival of making Rayon from cellulose as the "chemical" source, using bamboo. A good thing as it's not derived from crude oil. This has excited the marketing people as they call it "bamboo" although actually it's just Rayon.

When you advocate using "bamboo" socks you mean wear a shiny (semi) artificial fibre rayon/viscose

The confusing thing is that there are genuine bamboo fabrics out there, using bamboo bast fibres, similar to the use of flax bast fibres in linen.

When I go to work related conferences the vendors are usually giving out the thinnest, cheapest branded socks possible - I have about 7 pairs I use solely for climbing and I've not known anything else.

I'm now curious if marginally thinner/fancier socks would make any noticeable difference, other than me no longer being a walking advertisement.

Thanks all. I’ve got five pairs of sockshop’s bamboo/rayon offering winging their merry way to me. 3 quid a pair is an improvement on seasalt so I’m hopeful. Will post a comprehensive review when I’ve really got stuck in to them

Must be a new fashion, I got given a pair of socks towards the end of last year by a company. First I'd seen that as a marketing gift, but from your post I must be behind the curve. I wonder if any companies do promotional boxer shorts, maybe slightly less likely to be worn but much more of a talking point!
